When God Tugs On Your Heart

We are all uniquely and intricately created by God. Each with different hearts, different inclinations, different desires, and different talents.

You know that tugging on your heart? That urge? That impulse? That longing desire?

God placed that in you.

He is calling you into the greatness He made for you. He is calling you to step up to the plate and use that urge to glorify Him. To step into that calling while pressing into Him. To use that passion to complete His purpose.

Easier said than done.

We tend to shy away from that calling. That tugging on our hearts. “Me, God? Are you sure? Surely someone else would be better for the job.”

We’re afraid.

The enemy tries to attack you – your passions, your hopes, your dreams, your confidence. The enemy tries to fill your mind with lies in an effort to prevent you from pursuing what God made for you. The enemy tries to make you feel inferior, like you aren’t good enough to fulfill your purpose. The enemy tries to fill you with fear.

But the power of our God overpowers the lies of the enemy.

So, let go of the lies.

Your talents are meant to be shared.

Your talents are meant to love and help others. Your talents are meant to serve God and complete His will.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.  Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Timothy 4:12-16)

You are good enough to do everything God is calling you to do.

You are good enough to be who God is calling you to be.

When God opens a door for you, it is up to you to walk through it. When God challenges you to step forward, it is up to you to take that first step.

You may not know what exactly that will look like but you don’t have to be afraid. When it’s for God’s purpose, you will genuinely want to chase it until His purpose is fulfilled.

His power is working in you, flowing through you. His love is pouring out to you.  He will equip you to complete the callings He has given you. You were made to be His faithful servant, so don’t shy away.

When you step out in faithful obedience to God, He will direct your every step.
